Overview

South Carolina (SC) has many key national facilities, each with its own cybersecurity needs. These include the Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Atlantic, Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL), Fort Jackson, Shaw Air Force Base, and others. According to 2018 estimates, the Department of Defense (DoD) has been struggling to hire more than 8,000 cyber positions1

Supported by the Office of Naval Research (ONR), UofSC is addressing the cybersecurity workforce needs by implementing an IT program with strong cybersecurity components, in partnership with the industry. In this workshop, STEM students, ROTC cadets, and veterans at UofSC will present their undergraduate research work on cybersecurity.
